PHILIPPINES: Pasig River cleanup

The project starts with installing a river-based collection system to immediately halt the Pasig River’s flow of plastic waste into Manila Bay. Consequently, chemical recycling facilities will create value from plastic waste that would otherwise end up in the environment.
The project will benefit from the collaboration with Plastic Credit Exchange (PCEx) which plans to establish 100 plastic waste collection points in the City of Manila. Unilever Philippines supports the improvement of existing plastic waste collection activities. At the same time, ICTSI Foundation will scale up its ongoing waste management programs and waste collection in two communities in the Manila Port Area.
