The project has received funding and acquired operation permits. It is expected to start the river cleaning unit installation in June 2021. 1st the project halts the flow of plastic to the oceans by installing effective technology to create value from low-value plastic waste and river clean-up technology to capture macro-plastics and other river waste.
Then, a complementary land-based segregation collection is implemented in the city, and a community engagement program established in order to manage a closed-loop management system for high-value plastics by empowering community-based Intermediate Recycling Facilities.
